Ask Tamr AINew
An AI assistant for restaurant owners Ask, then approve.
Ask Tamr AI is an assistant inside your tamr dashboard that answers questions about your own restaurant data in plain language, such as “which allergens did customers ask about this week?”. It can also make changes to your menu, and nothing changes until you press Approve.
You type a question the way you would ask your manager, and Ask Tamr AI reads your own data before it answers: what customers asked, which dishes they looked at and picked, your branches and your menu. If the data is not there, it says so instead of guessing. Open it from the top of the dashboard, or press ⌘J.
Answers you can check
Each answer says what it read, such as your top questions or your dishes, and uses lists and tables where they help.
Follow up, or come back later
Ask a second question in the same chat. Past chats are kept in a history list you can search.
When you ask for a change, Ask Tamr AI does not make it. It puts the change on a card that shows the dish and exactly what will change, before and after. The change applies only when you press Approve. If you press Deny, nothing is done.
What it can change
A dish's description, price, dietary tags, allergens or availability. The order of dishes and categories, specials, branch details such as opening hours and parking, publishing a menu, and your AI waiter's setup.
What it cannot change
Billing, team members, custom font files and printing your codes. For those it tells you which screen to open. It cannot see orders or payments.
Ask Tamr AI can add categories and dishes to your menu when you describe them. It works one step at a time: the category goes on its own card first, and its dishes come on a second card only after you approve the first. You can also give it a menu link, or upload a PDF or photos, to import.
Tags only when they are certain
It adds dietary tags and allergens only when the name or description makes them certain, and it tells you what it guessed.
Photos you check first
It can use real photos from your website or Instagram, or make an AI photo as a preview. The photo goes on the dish only when you like it.
Ask Tamr AI answers only from your own restaurant's data: your menus, your branches and what your customers asked and picked. It never shows another restaurant's data or industry averages as fact, and the rules below come from tamr's security and privacy pages.
Only your restaurant
Each restaurant is its own account. Every request checks that you are a member with a role that allows it.
You press Approve
Your approval is sent on its own, outside the AI. A change that nobody approves within 15 minutes is dropped.
Customer text is not an order to the AI
What customers write in chats is only read as data. If a message asks it to change a price or publish, it does not.
Contact details removed
Phone numbers and emails are removed from customer messages before they are stored or sent to an AI model, unless you turn this off.
No training on your data
AI requests go only to providers that do not keep or train on what is sent. tamr never sells data.
Hosted in the EU
The servers and database run in Amsterdam, and all traffic is encrypted. Backups are encrypted too.
What is Ask Tamr AI?
Ask Tamr AI is an AI assistant for restaurant owners, inside your tamr dashboard. You ask about your own restaurant in plain language, for example “what did customers ask about this week?”, and it answers from your real data, with lists and tables where they help. It can also propose changes to your menu, and nothing changes until you press Approve.
Where do its answers come from?
Only from your own restaurant: your menus, dishes and branches, and what your customers asked and picked. It reads your data before it gives you a number, and if the data is not there it says so instead of guessing. It never shows other restaurants’ data or industry averages as fact, and it cannot see orders or payments.
Can Ask Tamr AI change my menu without asking me?
No. Every change it proposes waits on a card that shows exactly what will change, before and after. It applies only when you press Approve, and if you press Deny nothing is done. Your approval is sent on its own, outside the AI, so text a customer wrote in a chat can never approve a change.
What can it change, and what can it not?
It can edit a dish’s description, price, dietary tags, allergens or availability, move dishes, build a menu, run specials, update branch details such as opening hours and parking, publish a menu and set up the AI waiter. It cannot handle billing, team members, custom font files or printing your codes. For those it tells you which screen to open.
Is Ask Tamr AI on the free plan?
Yes. Free includes 20 questions a day for your restaurant. Pro raises that to 150 a day and lets Ask Tamr AI read the deeper numbers from Insights, such as how each dish performs, your busy hours and your customers’ mood. Pro is $100 per location a month, and the menu and the AI waiter stay free.
How do I open Ask Tamr AI?
Select Ask Tamr AI at the top of your dashboard, or press ⌘J on a Mac or Ctrl+J on Windows from any screen. Your past chats are kept in a history list that you can search, so you can go back to an old answer or ask a follow-up question in the same chat.
