For bars and lounges
A QR menu for bars and lounges with a drinks list your customers can ask
tamr is a QR menu for bars and lounges with an AI waiter inside. Your customers scan, read your drinks list on their phone, and ask what is in a cocktail, what is close to a drink they like, or what has no alcohol. It answers only from your menu, and the menu and the AI waiter are free.
In a bar, tamr puts the whole drinks list on the customer's phone and answers questions about it from your menu, in the customer's language. A table can build one round together and show it to the server. tamr does not check age or run a tab. Your team and your POS keep doing that.
A bar's list runs long: the example here is 96 lines in seven sections. Few customers read all of it in a dark room before the server comes back, so they order the drink they already know. On a phone the list is searchable by asking, and the customer gets two or three drinks that fit, with prices.
Keep the whole list
You do not have to cut the list to make it readable. Every drink is still there for the customer who asks for it.
Write one line per drink
The AI waiter answers from your descriptions. “Bourbon, Aperol, amaro, lemon” is enough for it to compare drinks.
The AI waiter answers four kinds of question from your drinks list: what is in a cocktail, what is close to a drink the customer likes, what has no alcohol, and what goes with the food. It replies in the language the customer writes in, and it never invents a drink or a price.
The drinks below are examples of a bar's own list. For “no alcohol” to work well, keep those drinks in a section with that name, or say it in each description. How the AI waiter answers
What is in a cocktail
What's in the Paper Plane?
Bourbon, Aperol, an Italian amaro and lemon juice, in equal parts. It is sour and a little bitter.
What is close to a drink they like
I usually drink an Old Fashioned
Then try the Smoked Maple Old Fashioned, or the Sazerac if you want it drier. Both are stirred and strong.
What has no alcohol
Anything without alcohol that isn't juice?
Three on the No alcohol list: the Garden Tonic, the Ginger Highball and the Mint Lemonade.
What goes with the food
What should I drink with the truffle fries?
Something dry and sparkling cuts the salt: the house spritz, or a glass of the brut.
Cocktails carry allergens that customers do not expect: egg white in a sour, almond syrup in a Mai Tai, cream in a White Russian, anchovy in the Worcestershire sauce of a Bloody Mary. On tamr you tag each drink once, and a customer who says “no egg” sees only the drinks without that tag.
Ten tags, always in words
Gluten, dairy, egg, nuts, peanut, sesame, soy, fish, shellfish and mustard. Anything else goes in the description.
Confirm with the bartender
Every allergy answer asks the customer to confirm with your staff. The AI waiter never promises a drink is safe.
With group ordering, a table of six builds one round on their own phones. One person taps Share with your table, the others join from the link and add their drinks, and the list shows every pick and the total. When your server comes by, the table shows the list and the round is taken in one go.
No app, no sign-in
Each person joins from a link and changes only their own picks.
Nothing is paid in tamr
The list goes to your server, who rings it up on your POS as today.
A special puts one drink at the top of your menu with a headline, for the start and end time you set, at one location or at all of them, and the AI waiter leads with it. A special does not change a price by itself, so write the happy hour price in the headline, for example “Until 8 pm: house spritz, $5”.
Pause it, keep the words
Pause a special and its headline stays for the next time you run it. Specials are part of Pro.
Out of a bottle
Switch a drink to unavailable for one hour, for the rest of today, or until you switch it back.
How a QR menu behaves in a bar, and one list of what tamr leaves to your team.
Readable in low light
A printed list in a dark room gets read by phone torch. A menu on the phone is lit by its own screen.
Put the code where there is light
Print the code large on a light card. Phone cameras struggle with a small code on a dark table.
No app for customers
Customers open the menu in their browser from the code, with no app to install and no sign-in.
A change is live in seconds
A published menu updates within about 30 seconds of an edit, so a price change does not wait for a reprint.
You see what customers asked
Your dashboard shows the questions customers asked, so you learn which drinks need a better description.
What tamr does not do
No age checks and no tabs. Your bartenders and your POS handle those.
The menu and the AI waiter are free, with no card. Pro, the owner's dashboard with every conversation, specials and translations, is $100 per location a month.

Is a QR menu a good fit for a bar?
Yes, when the drinks list is long. A QR menu for bars puts the whole list on the customer's phone, lit by its own screen, and you can change a price or take a drink off in seconds. With tamr, customers can also ask the AI waiter what is in a cocktail or what is close to a drink they like.
Can the AI waiter recommend a cocktail?
Yes, from your own list. A customer says what they like, for example “something like a Negroni, but lighter”, and the AI waiter suggests the closest drinks on your menu with their prices. It never invents a drink or a price. If a customer asks for something you do not serve, it says so and offers the closest drink you do have.
Can I put happy hour on the menu?
Yes. A special puts one drink at the top of your menu with a headline, for the start and end time you set, at one location or at all of them, and the AI waiter leads with it. A special does not change a price by itself, so write the happy hour price in the headline. Specials are part of Pro.
Does tamr check a customer's age or run a tab?
No. tamr does not check age, and does not open or hold a tab. Your bartenders and servers do that as they do today, on your POS. tamr is the menu on the customer's phone and the AI waiter that answers questions about it.
How do allergens work for cocktails?
You tag each drink once with the allergens in it, such as egg for a sour made with egg white, nuts for a drink with almond syrup, or dairy for one with cream. A customer who tells the AI waiter about an allergy sees only the drinks without that tag, and is always asked to confirm with your staff.
Can a group at one table order together?
Yes. With group ordering, one person shares a link and everyone at the table adds their own drinks and food to one list on their own phone. When your server comes by, the table shows the list and the round is taken in one go. Nothing is paid in tamr.
How much does tamr cost for a bar?
The menu and the AI waiter are free, with no card. Pro, the owner's dashboard with every conversation, specials and translations, is $100 per location a month, or $1,000 a year. Groups with more than ten locations are on Multi-branch, priced per deal.
Upload your list as a PDF or a photo, or import it from a link. tamr builds it, and your customers can start asking tonight. Free to start, no card.
