How attaching works, switching waiters, publishing, and previewing.
A waiter only answers once it is both published and attached to a published menu. Here is how those pieces fit.
One waiter, many menus
Each menu has at most one waiter, but a single waiter can serve several menus. Most restaurants run one profile across everything.
Attach a waiter

From the waiter, use "Attach to a menu". Or from the menu's Share tab, choose the waiter.
- 2Confirm a switch, if needed
If the menu already has a different waiter, tamr asks you to confirm. The old waiter is simply replaced, and both profiles keep their settings.
From the waiters list, "Set as default" attaches a profile to every menu that does not already have one. It is the fastest way to get chat live everywhere at once.
Publish
Toggle the profile to Published to make it live. Unpublishing reverts it to draft without losing anything.
Chat only appears to customers when the menu is published and a published waiter is attached. If chat is missing, check both.
Preview as a customer
Before you print the QR, open the waiter as a customer would see it. The editor's chat preview mirrors your tone, greeting, and chips live, and an "open as customer" link takes you to the real guest view so you can ask a few questions and confirm it answers the way you want.
FAQ
I attached a waiter but customers still don't see chat.
Confirm both the menu and the waiter are published. A draft on either side keeps chat off.
Will switching a menu's waiter lose my settings?
No. Switching only changes which profile answers on that menu. Both profiles keep everything.
Can I test before going live?
Yes. Use the preview and the "open as customer" link to try real questions first.
