Design and branding

Make the menu look like your restaurant, and set how prices and languages appear.

The Design tab controls how your menu looks and reads. Every change repaints the live phone preview instantly, so you can see exactly what customers will get.

Template

The template is the layout customers see. Switch any time; the preview updates immediately. The featured layouts are Classic, Magazine, and Compact. Several more (Grid, Editorial, Storyboard, Boutique, Tasting Course, Ledger, Poster) are available and appear as options once you are using them.

Brand

Your logo, colors, and typography, used across both the menu and the chat.

  • Logo. Upload your restaurant logo.
  • Colors. An accent color, a secondary accent, and a paper (background) color, each a hex value. A strength setting (subtle, balanced, or bold) controls how strongly the accent shows.
  • Display font. For titles and headings. Choose a curated serif (like Fraunces, Cormorant, or Playfair), any Google font, or upload your own.
  • UI font. For body text and buttons. Choose a curated sans (like Geist, Inter, or DM Sans), a Google font, or upload your own.
  • Type treatment. Optional controls for display case, weight, and style, plus body weight and style.
Custom font files

If you upload your own font, use .woff2, .woff, .ttf, or .otf. Otherwise the menu falls back to DM Sans, which always loads.

Cover and subtitle

The hero image and tagline at the top of your menu. Upload a cover image (PNG, JPEG, or WebP) and write a short menu subtitle.

Languages and currency

This is where you decide what languages your menu offers and how prices read.

  • Source language. The menu's base language, as a language code (for example en, ar, fr).
  • Served languages. The set of languages customers can switch between. tamr translates the content; the customer picks their language and it is remembered for your restaurant. Arabic and other right-to-left languages render correctly.
  • Currency. A three-letter code like USD, EUR, or JPY. Zero-decimal currencies such as JPY are handled for you.
  • Currency display. Show the symbol ($12.50), the code (USD 12.50), or hide the price entirely (12.50). This applies everywhere a price appears: the menu, dish detail, and the tray.

Also on Design, you can leave menu-wide guidance for the AI waiter. This sits alongside each dish's waiter note and your waiter's house rules. For the full picture of shaping the waiter, see teach your waiter →.
